Terms of Use
Last updated October 27, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of sonoeo.com, the sonoeo dashboard, the sonoeo app, and related services (together, the “Services”) provided by sonoeo (“sonoeo,” “we,” “us”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms for that organization and confirm you have authority to do so; “you” then includes that organization.
If you have signed a separate written agreement with sonoeo, that agreement controls where it conflicts with these Terms.
1. What sonoeo does
sonoeo helps employers confirm that job applications were submitted by a real person. Employers create a requisition in the dashboard and receive a code to place on their job application. Candidates enter that code in the sonoeo app and receive a verification code to include with their application. Employers can then check those codes with sonoeo.
A verification confirms only that a person used the sonoeo app to obtain the code. It is not an identity check, background check, or assessment of a candidate's qualifications, honesty, or eligibility to work, and it does not confirm that the person who verified also wrote or submitted the application.
2. Accounts
- Dashboard accounts require a work email address at your organization's domain. Personal email providers are not accepted.
- Each email domain has one organization account. The person who creates it becomes its admin. Admins can invite people to the organization, change their roles, and remove them. Everyone in the organization shares its requisitions and plan.
- You must provide accurate information, and keep your password secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and must tell us promptly at hello@sonoeo.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
- You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live, to use the Services.
3. Plans, free requisitions, and fees
- Each organization may create up to three requisitions free of charge. The free allowance is per organization, not per user, and closing a requisition does not restore it.
- Additional requisitions are paid. Current pricing is shown on our pricing page or in a quote or order form we provide. Fees are charged per active requisition per month unless otherwise agreed.
- Unless otherwise stated, fees exclude taxes, and you are responsible for applicable taxes.
- We may change pricing with advance notice. Changes apply from your next billing period.
- Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or stated otherwise in writing.
4. Your responsibilities as an employer
- You are responsible for your hiring decisions and for complying with all laws that apply to your recruiting, including employment, anti-discrimination, privacy, and accessibility laws.
- You must tell candidates clearly how sonoeo verification is used in your application process.
- You must provide a reasonable alternative way to apply for candidates who cannot use the sonoeo app, including as a reasonable accommodation for disability.
- You must not use verification results as the sole basis for any decision that has legal or similarly significant effects on a candidate without appropriate human review.
- You are responsible for having the rights and any required notices or consents for applicant data you upload or process with the Services.
5. Candidates
If you use the sonoeo app to verify for a job, you must verify yourself only, for applications you are personally submitting. Do not share, sell, or reuse verification codes, or verify on behalf of anyone else or any automated tool. sonoeo is not the employer, does not make hiring decisions, and is not responsible for the employer's application process.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use bots, scripts, or other automated means to obtain verification codes, or help anyone else do so;
- attempt to bypass, defeat, or reverse engineer verification, rate limits, or other security measures;
- access another organization's data or use the Services to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system without our written permission;
- interfere with or disrupt the Services or impose an unreasonable load on them;
- use the Services to violate any law or anyone's rights, or to discriminate unlawfully against candidates;
- resell or provide the Services to third parties except as we agree in writing; or
- use the Services to build a competing product.
7. Your data
You keep all rights to the information you provide to the Services (“Customer Data”). You grant sonoeo a limited right to host, process, and use Customer Data to provide, secure, and improve the Services and as described in our Privacy Policy. We may use aggregated or de-identified data that does not identify you or any individual to operate and improve the Services.
8. sonoeo's property
The Services, including the software, app, website, and sonoeo brand, belong to sonoeo and its licensors. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services during your subscription. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
9. Third-party services
The Services may work alongside third-party products, such as applicant tracking systems. Your use of those products is governed by their terms, and sonoeo is not responsible for them. References to third-party products and logos do not imply endorsement or partnership unless stated.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if needed to protect the Services or others, or if required by law. Where reasonable, we will give notice first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including sections 7 through 14.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SONOEO DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT VERIFICATION WILL DETECT EVERY AUTOMATED OR FRAUDULENT APPLICATION.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SONOEO WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, OR FOR ANY HIRING DECISION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES. SONOEO'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID SONOEO IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
If you use the Services as an employer, you will defend and indemnify sonoeo against third-party claims arising from your Customer Data, your hiring practices or decisions, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. General
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which sonoeo is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
- You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- If any provision is unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any order form, are the entire agreement between you and sonoeo about the Services.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms here and change the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice, such as by email or in the dashboard. Continuing to use the Services after changes take effect means you accept them.
